Treating Baby Diaper Rash

Share

Most babies if not all may experience baby diaper rash. Most mothers may fret about this problem with their babies’ bottoms. They would rather have the soft smooth skin of their babies maintained than seeing the unsightly read spots or marks. Mothers also know that their babies feel uncomfortable with these diaper rashes. Most often mothers consider baby diaper rashes as abnormal. They may think that their babies have some allergies or infections. However, mothers should understand that a baby diaper rash may just be normal and part of being babies. They may have to deal with it the proper way to ease the discomfort of their babies.

Baby diaper rash may result from a combination of factors. The skin of babies is very delicate and very sensitive. When they are on diapers, their urine and their stools stay for a few minutes or at times for longer periods. Their skin gets damaged because of the rubbing of the diaper material against it. This condition worsens especially when they pee and soil their diapers. The result would be baby diaper rash. Mothers can do something to lessen the occurrence of this problem. Some babies though are less sensitive to baby diaper rash but mothers may still observe some precautionary measures to prevent it.

Mothers may start by changing the diapers as often as possible. They may do it every two hours if the diaper is not soiled. The changing routine may be spaced longer as babies tend to make pee less as they grow. Mothers should also check on their babies’ diapers. They will have to change it immediately if they are soiled. Mothers will have to try different brands and the most suitable for their babies. Cloth diapers may be better but they should be washed and rinsed with some vinegar. This will remove any alkaline irritants that may be present. This will help prevent baby diaper rash to happen.

Mothers must clean their babies very well after they have made pee or some stool. They may use regular unscented wipes or simply wash them with water. They may also apply some cream or ointments after cleaning and drying their bottoms. Though mothers may do all of these, there are times when rashes just simply come back. Sometimes, mothers would have to leave their babies without diapers for a few minutes to let it dry very well especially after washing. There are different types of rashes and they may not be that serious. However, mothers may consult with their doctors if they are not able to treat the baby diaper rash on their own.
